“The JNF Youth Board got involved for Tu Bishvat in a clean up and tree planting campaign at King David Linksfield. Learners woke up early for a hike up the Linksfield ridge and proceeded to clean rubbish in the sometimes neglected area. Many black rubbish bags were filled up, collected and put in the appropriate recycling area. Leaners than planted a tree on the banks of the hockey field.”

Jewish Education
The JNF-SA provides top environmental education for Jewish schools in South Africa. For two years on Tu- Bishvat now JNF has introduced special “Tree cards” where learners are able to donate money for trees while learning key facts about the environment.

JNF speakers also go to all schools during the week and talk to them about the importance of green issues and plant trees. Every year JNF also sends representatives to the Jewish youth camps in December with specially theme pulot that add to the experience of the camp whilst also assisting in making the whole month friendlier to the environment.

The JNF works continuously with Hebrew studies departments, Green clubs, Synagogues, Departments of informal education and various individual educators so that they have easy access environmental information.
