Global Warming Israel & The Environment

GLOBAL WARMING - OUR PRIORITY FOR 2008

Global Warming ( a.k.a. Climate Change) is the most urgent environmental issue facing the world today. From all over the planet, horror stories of floods, droughts, tsunamis and general devastation fill our newspapers and TV screens.

Do we sit back and ignore this very real threat or do we make the necessary lifestyle changes, both individually and in our businesses, to offset and reduce the carbon emissions which are promising to destroy our land?

We must understand the enormity of the problem before any positive action can be taken.

Every step we take creates a carbon emission (Carbon Footprint). These emissions will be reduced by the planting of large volumes of indigenous trees which, as they grow, absorb the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and convert it into life-giving oxygen. The process of trapping carbon in forests, soils, geological formations and other carbon "sinks" is called Carbon Sequestration. It is estimated that 60% of the 2,5 million trees planted in South Africa will have already destroyed 200,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

The JNF has planted over 240 million trees in Israel since the inception of the organization. However, an unbelievable 750,000 trees were devastated in the north of Israel during the last war with Lebanon.

Reforestation of these vast areas of arid land is imperative if our beloved homeland is to survive.

With the critical Global Warming issue looming on the horizon, with this being the 60th Anniversary of the State of Israel and with Tu B'Shvat only weeks away, we urge you to consider establishing a Park, Woodland or Garden of Trees in the name of your family or Company.

A beautiful certificate is available should you wish to honour a family member or friend.

We look forward to a generous donation for this critical cause.
